Is ICON Right for me?
ICON effectively treats many skin imperfections, including:
- Baggy, tierd-looking eyes
- Age spots
- Scars, including acne scars
- Spider veins
- Fine lines and wrinkles
How Does the ICON Laser Work?
The ICON laser uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to send pulses of high-energy light deep into the skin layers. This leads the targeted tissue to gradually break down, which triggers the body’s natural healing process to kick in and form new collagen in the area. This allows the skin to achieve a more even texture, while smoothing out wrinkles and other skin imperfections.
Sessions are typically completed in under 30 minutes, though it may vary based on the size and area(s) being treated.
How Many Treatments Will I Need to See Results?
While beautiful results are often achieved with a single treatment, most patients will require 3-5 sessions to achieve their desired outcome.
What to Expect During an ICON Treatment
To prepare for your ICON treatment:
- Avoid tanning or intense sun exposure four weeks before your treatment
- Use a powerful sunscreen that blocks UV rays – a good idea all the time, but especially before treatment
- If you take medication that makes your skin sensitive to light, such as doxycycline or minocycline, informDr. Supriya Krishnan
- You may be asked to apply a topical medication, such as retinoids, before the ICON treatment
During Your ICON Laser Treatment
The treatment will follow the plan we created during your initial consultation. We begin with a thorough cleansing and application of a cream that will numb your skin and keep it cool. During treatment, we may use a 1540 fractional laser, IPL or a combination, depending on the problem you are seeking treatment for.
The device will move over your skin and pulse warmth into your skin to stimulate production of collagen and elastin. This will renew your skin and restore its youthful appearance.
Following Your Laser Procedure
After the procedure, you may expect some redness or swelling, which should disappear in a few days. You can continue your daily routine, but be sure to guard your skin from the sun. The outer layer of the skin may be darker right after the treatment, but when it exfoliates and dead cells are removed, you’ll see fresher, brighter skin.
