Keratoconus

Keratoconus is a progressive eye condition where the cornea, the clear, dome-shaped front surface of the eye, thins and gradually bulges outward into a cone shape. This change in shape causes light rays to be deflected as they enter the eye, leading to distorted and blurry vision. 👁️ The exact cause of Keratoconus is unknown, but it's believed to be linked to a combination of genetic predisposition, environmental factors (like eye rubbing and allergies), and a weakening of the corneal tissue. It typically begins in puberty and progresses into the mid-30s. Key Symptoms: * Blurry or distorted vision (both near and far) * Increased sensitivity to light and glare * Frequent changes in eyeglass prescription * Seeing "ghost images" or multiple images
