Scleral Lenses

A Vision Solution Scleral lenses are large-diameter gas permeable contact lenses specially designed to manage Keratoconus and other corneal irregularities. Unlike traditional contact lenses that rest on the cornea, scleral lenses vault completely over the cornea and rest on the sclera, the white part of the eye. This design creates a tear-filled reservoir between the back surface of the lens and the front of the cornea. This fluid layer serves two crucial functions: * It masks the irregularities of the cone-shaped cornea, creating a new, perfectly smooth optical surface. * It continuously bathes the cornea in a soothing, hydrating solution, which can be very comfortable for those with sensitive eyes. Because they don't touch the sensitive corneal tissue, scleral lenses offer exceptional comfort and stable, crisp vision that often cannot be achieved with glasses or conventional contact lenses for Keratoconus patients.
